Testng.xml is running in strange order

garvita girotra
Hi,

My testng.xml is running in strange order. Here it is :

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
  <!DOCTYPE suite (View Source for full doctype...)>
- <suite name="TestSuite" thread-count="3" parallel="none" junit="false" guice-stage="DEVELOPMENT" configfailurepolicy="skip" skipfailedinvocationcounts="false" data-provider-thread-count="10" group-by-instances="false" preserve-order="true" allow-return-values="false">
  <parameter name="ipd.username" value="${ipd.username}" />
  <parameter name="ipd.password" value="${ipd.password}" />
  <parameter name="ipd.url" value="${ipd.url}" />
- <test name="NewDashboard" preserve-order="true" junit="false" skipfailedinvocationcounts="false" group-by-instances="false" allow-return-values="false">
- <classes>
  <class name="ipd.administration.clients.CreateClient" />
  <class name="ipd.administration.projects.CreateProject" />
  <class name="ipd.administration.users.CreateUser" />
  <class name="ipd.administration.users.AccessToProjects" />
  <class name="ipd.administration.uploadDocuments.UploadPatent" />
  <class name="ipd.administration.uploadDocuments.UploadArticle" />
  <class name="ipd.administration.advancedSearch.Search" />
  <class name="ipd.project.analytics.BarChart" />
  <class name="ipd.project.analytics.LineChart" />
  <class name="ipd.project.analytics.PieChart" />
  <class name="ipd.project.analytics.StackedBar" />
  <class name="ipd.project.analytics.BubbleChart" />
  <class name="ipd.project.analytics.HeatMap" />
  </classes>
  </test>
  </suite>

Output is :
1. CreateClient > BarChart > CreateProject > LineChart > CraeteUser > PieChart > AccessToProject > StackedBar

Note : It was working fine a day before. Till then, it was having classes till bar chart. Since i added new classes LineChart, PieChart, StackedBar, BubbleChart, HaetMap
They are running out of order. I added parameter preserve order true, but i believe its not needed as its true by default.

Every class in this testng.xml extends Base Class. Is there any way i can run them in same order and if any one can guide why is this happening.

Thanks,
Garvita Girotra

Can you please let us know what version of TestNG are you working with ?

It would also help us if you could create a sample project which can be run to reproduce the problem.

Thanks & Regards

Re: Testng.xml is running in strange order

Krishnan Mahadevan

Sravya,

I am re-iterating what I mentioned earlier. Please help create a sample which can be executed to reproduce the problem.

Its easier to figure out what is going on that way.

Thanks & Regards

In that case, it would be hard for us to figure out what is going wrong in your test project.

Output is :
