How to Get time taken by Test to execute - webdriver/testng

garvitagirotraev
Hi,

Is there any way we can get time taken by a test to execute so that i can add that in onTestSuccess() method.

I need to print to console output like this once test is passed:
Status: pass   Methodname timetaken : in seconds

Thanks !!

Re: How to Get time taken by Test to execute - webdriver/testng

Krishnan Mahadevan

You could do a diff between ITestResult.getEndMillis() – ItestResult.getStartMillis() and then translate the value into seconds.

That would tell you the time taken to run the test. Would that help ?

Thanks & Regards

Hi,

This is also achieved using the Java Logic as mentioned bewlo:

Date d1 = new Date();
//Code
Date d2 = new Date();
System.out.println(d2.getTime()-d1.getTime()); //gives the time difference in milliseconds.
System.out.println((d2.getTime()-d1.getTime())/1000); //gives the time difference in seconds.

That example doesn't involve a TestNG test. Do you mind showing an example that uses TestNG test and which uses date diff ? I would be curious to see!

Re: How to Get time taken by Test to execute - webdriver/testng

Krishnan Mahadevan
The question by the OP was I believe to be able to get this from outside of a @Test method and not from within a @Test method.

Also how do you envision this to work if I wanted this calculation to be done for every @Test method which I believe was the other ask by the OP.
